The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA®)
was created in 1972 by the Wisconsin Legislature as an independent authority,
not a state agency. As a lender, WHEDA has over $3 billion in assets.
WHEDA works closely with lenders, developers, local government, nonprofits,
community groups and others to implement its low-cost financing programs. We
provide low-cost, fixed interest rate mortgages to low- and moderate-income
individuals and families to purchase their first home. We also work with
developers to finance affordable rental housing, and support economic
development and agriculture through our small business guarantee programs.
WHEDA programs fundamentally do not rely on tax dollars. Instead, proceeds
from the sale of revenue bonds allow us to fund financing programs that help
stimulate affordable housing and economic development throughout the state.

We are a non-profit organization established with the mission
of constructing and maintaining an
Agribusiness Innovation Center in Central Wisconsin.
CWAIC, Inc. was formed by a diverse group of citizens
from Clark County who
are united in their passion to make this Innovation Center a reality.

The Agribusiness Innovation Center will be a multi-purpose facility designed
to foster education, training, research and development in the areas of
agribusiness and biotechnology. The building will incorporate large- and
small-group learning environments, public meeting and presentation space, and
business incubator space for agricultural entrepreneurs. Our vision is that
the building itself will be a learning tool, using sustainable development
concepts in the design of the building and surrounding site.
The Innovation Center is a key component in a larger agribusiness complex
ideally located in northern Clark County, the heart of Wisconsin.
Its location along four-lane Highway 29 provides easy access to larger
metropolitan areas in the state, while still preserving our rural character.
Clark County is already one of the leading agricultural counties in the state.
We are home to plentiful dairy farms, award-winning butter producers, master
and artisan cheese makers, cash-cropping
and ag support businesses, greenhouses, tree farms and nurseries, and a major
wholesale produce auction facility.
In addition, Central Wisconsin is developing a strong reputation in the bio
energy field. Numerous alternative energy entities are located in the region.
