Stanley is a unique small community in that it still has a theater operating
on its Main Street. Operating the theater in Stanley has been a labor of love
for the Dan and Cecilia Eslinger family, since Cecilia, her mother and brother
purchased the theater in 1964. During the summer of 2003 the theaters facade was
restored to its 1930's appearance, and restoration inside this historical
theater continues every year.
The Stanley Theater features current movies. Call
715-644-5988 to get information on the movie currently being featured at the
theater or visit the website

Stanley is located on the Chippewa
County Snowmobile Trail and within a short distance of bicycle, cross-country
skiing and dirt bike trails. Stanley is also close to prime deer and wild turkey
hunting. Fishing is another major sporting and relaxation activity in the
immediate area. A bowling alley south of Highway 29 offers leagues and
open bowling. Local retail stores offer sports equipment and services of
all kinds.
Throughout the school year local fans follow the Stanley-Boyd Orioles sports
teams. Stanley-Boyd High School offers football, volleyball, boys and girls
cross-country, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball and golf
so there are ample opportunities to support local youth and enjoy good
competition between the Orioles and the neighboring schools.
Annually the high school Instrumental and Vocal Music Departments hold
several music concerts for the entertainment of the general public. Annual plays
are performed by both high school and community thespians. A major musical
performance is held every other year.
