"The Friendly Town-Y Go By"The Village of Boyd, population: 672The original ten acres along the Soo Line Railroad, 18 miles east of Chippewa Falls, was purchased by John W. Cirkel and first settled in 1880. The Village of Boyd was laid out and platted May 25, 1881.
Since then, Boyd has seen growth, being the home of a friendly and comfortable community. Still close enough to Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire that you don't need to miss out on the "joys" of the bigger city. But far enough away to enjoy the rural atmosphere.

VETERANS MEMORIAL EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT IN LOTZ PARK
In 1962 the Boyd American Legion donated a M8 75mm Pack Howitzer Cannon for display in the Lotz Park in Boyd. As part of his Eagle Scout Project, Andy Klick chose to clean up the cannon and create a Veterans Memorial to thank and honor our local veterans. There are seven plaques on the memorial, one for each branch of the military, one thanking the veterans for their service, and a patriotic eagle. The Village of Boyd and the Advanced Prose class at Stanley-Boyd High School have taken on the completion of this project. It will include a concrete walkway surrounding the memorial, along with seven flagpoles. There will be a flag for each branch of the military, a POW/MIA flag, a United States flag, and a Wisconsin flag. Anyone wishing to make a donation towards the completion of this project should contact the Village of Boyd for more information at 667-3420. |
