Stanley Housing
Brisk construction of new housing in Stanley has taken place in the past five years. Townhouses, duplexes, and four plexes offer two and three bedroom rental units at various sites in the city. Some of the new townhouses and duplexes are also offered for sale. Many fine moderately priced homes are available for sale in the Stanley area. As seniors choose other housing due to advancing age or health issues, more and more of them are choosing to rent upscale apartments that provide lawn care and snow removal. Assisted living apartments and deluxe senior condominiums are also available now. Thus older well cared for homes are available on an ongoing basis. Stanley's Realtors are available to interested home buyers: American Realty's Paul Smith at 715-644-1112 and Darold Wall 715-644-5062. Many fine home sites are available in the city. A new subdivision was opened in 2001. Information can be obtained from the City Clerk at 715-644-5758.
Rental units can be found throughout the city. Income based housing is available for the elderly, single individuals and families. Rental housing is easily accessed via the ad section of the weekly newspaper, Chippewa County Housing Authority has ongoing assistance for low and moderate-income homeowners to upgrade and improve their homes in Stanley. Some money is targeted to specific sections of the city. Available money is usually targeted for installing new windows, new roofs, and upgrading heating systems. Four units of self-help housing were developed in 2001-2002. This project provided an avenue for first time, and low and moderate-income families, to buy a home that they could feel a part of, since they had worked on its construction. |
